Eduvos Bachelor of Science in Biomedicine graduate, Reitumetse talks to us about her academic journey at our Midrand Campus

Why did you choose to study at Eduvos, a private institution?
I liked the fact that even though I enrolled late and was still accepted. Eduvos has space for everyone at any time for as long as you're willing to study and whenever you’re ready to start. Eduvos also gave students the opportunity to repeat modules, which was convenient in many aspects of my student life.

Why did you choose to study a Bachelor of Science in Biomedicine?
I've always loved biology in high school. It was my favourite subject. I was inspired by my high school biology teacher to pursue a BSc degree. She was so dedicated and encouraged me to study further and to add to that, I wanted to be part of scientists who play a huge role in the lives of people.

How did you find your study experience?
BSc Biomedicine was challenging, there was quite a lot to work through in theory and practicals. I spent many sleepless nights making sure I didn’t fall back on my work and ensuring I submitted my assignments on time. However, it was all worth it. I gained a lot of knowledge and experience from hard-working lecturers and attending classes and working in the science labs was always fun.

What was your overall experience at Eduvos, with staff and lecturers?
Everyone was fighting to give their best and we were willing to assist one another. The lecturers were always available to guide and assist me in my journey and I really appreciated the patience everyone showed.

What aspects are unique to Eduvos that stand out to you?
Less number of students per class which made it easier for us to interact with one another and with lecturers as well. They introduced hybrid learning which gave students their preferred mode of learning and comfort.

What advice would you give to students looking to study at Eduvos?
First, you need to know your capabilities, if the qualification of choice is right for you and how will it benefit and assist in your dream career. You must have what I like to call DDDRC (Discipline, Dedication, Determination, Responsibility and Commitment). Everyone has more than a second chance at Eduvos. You're given a chance to study at your convenience, especially with the blended learning approach. The lecturers are always available to assist and students are assigned to respective student advisors for more help and guidance, which also makes your education journey a lot easier.

Congratulations on being a GradStar Top 100, this is an incredible achievement. How was your experience?
I was so proud to be announced as GradStar Awards Top 100 from over 5000+ entries. It's really a big win for me and it was such a big and exciting opportunity. The organisers were welcoming and friendly, they gave us a free course on finances and building wealth, which is really useful. They continuously provide us with updates and resources to better ourselves and our skills. I loved everything about being in GradStar’s Top 100, their platform assists in connecting graduates to employers and applying for bursaries.
