At Eduvos, science doesn’t just live in textbooks or labs; it lives in the real world. On Wednesday, 11 June 2025 and Thursday, 12 June 2025, our Pretoria and Midrand campuses transformed into a vibrant hub of innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurial energy as students from the Faculty of Applied Science brought their ideas to market during the Bio-Entrepreneurship Market Day.
From eco-friendly haircare products to health-conscious snacks and sustainable packaging, students didn’t just showcase what they’ve learned, ; they demonstrated what they could build. The market day was more than just an exhibition; it was a real-world application of classroom concepts, where students pitched business models, engaged with their peers and lecturers, and got a taste of what it truly means to bring a scientific idea to market.
“This market day is more than just an exhibition, it’s a celebration of applied learning, critical thinking, and future-focused innovation,” noted Bonisile Mazibuko, Applied Science Lecturer.
Each stall reflected a student’s ability to merge biology with business, showing that biosciences can be a powerful driver of economic and social change. Through hands-on learning, collaboration, and creative problem-solving, students stepped confidently into their roles as future bio-entrepreneurs.
At Eduvos, our Faculty of Applied Science is built on an industry-related approach to teaching and learning. With state-of-the-art Biosafety Level 1 laboratories at our Midrand, Pretoria, and Tygervalley campuses; with the Tygervalley Campus Lab being our most recent expansion, students receive hands-on training in environments that mirror the standards of professional scientific labs. These facilities not only prepare them for careers in the applied sciences but also build students into bold innovators and problem-solvers.
What sets our applied science faculty apart is our focus on quality over quantity, offering a curated range of qualifications that equip students with the critical and analytical skills demanded by a rapidly evolving science and technology landscape.
Eduvos is passionate about nurturing well-rounded, industry-ready scientists who are capable of not just conducting research but also conceptualising, prototyping, and commercialising innovative solutions that meet global demands.
The Bio-Entrepreneurship Market Day is just one of the many ways Eduvos bridges the gap between education and employability. By encouraging students to turn scientific insight into viable products and services, we help them gain practical experience, build entrepreneurial confidence, and develop the agility to thrive in a competitive marketplace.
As the world looks to science for answers to global challenges ranging from climate change to public health, where Eduvos is proud to stand at the intersection of education, innovation, and industry, shaping the next generation of bio-entrepreneurs and changemakers.
