This Higher Certificate in Computing specialises in Software Development Lifecycles. Designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the various stages involved in software development. This qualification aims to widen access to higher education and boost career prospects in the rapidly evolving field of information technology (IT). Enhancing the ability to make informed decisions at each stage of the process, with a focus on strategic planning, effective problem-solving, and quality assurance. 
 
The goal is to prepare students to manage and execute efficient, high-quality software development projects in a real-world context. Examine various lifecycle models and appreciate their characteristics to understand which project environments they are most appropriate for. Theoretical understanding will be translated into practical skills through an actual software development lifecycle project. Become confident in the use of tools and techniques relevant to a chosen methodology.

Entry requirements
  • South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor’s degree, Diploma or Higher Certificate endorsement.                
  • Or a National Certificate (Vocational) level 4 issued by the Council of General and Further Education and Training with  Bachelor’s degree, Diploma Or Higher Certificate endorsement.                                          
  • Or a Certificate of evaluation on a minimum NQF level 4 for foreign qualification confirmed by SAQA.                        
  • Or a letter or certificate confirming an exemption from Universities South Africa (USAf) for any other School leaving results.               
  • Or a Completion of a Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, Higher Certificate or equivalent.
