Meet Didintle Motlhasedi, a final-year Bachelor Science in Information Technology student at the Eduvos Pretoria campus. Growing up in a small town in the North West before moving to Pretoria, she encountered financial challenges that might have made her journey more difficult, but she remained determined to pursue her dreams. Thanks to the Integrove Bursary, Didintle has been able to pursue her passion for technology and innovation, proving that bursary opportunities can be life changing.
Didintle’s fascination with IT started with a simple question: how do systems work? She was drawn to the mechanics behind websites, software, and digital integration, even without prior coding experience. Her passion for problem-solving and building technology that improves lives solidified her decision to pursue Information Technology.
“Technology is everywhere,” she says. “I wanted to be part of that innovation – to contribute to something bigger than myself.”
The journey to success is rarely linear – and for Didintle, financial constraints nearly derailed her dreams. At one point, she believed completing her degree would be impossible. Then, she received life-changing news – she had been awarded the Integrove Bursary.
“I didn’t even apply for it,” she recalls. “I got a call from the bursary department saying I was selected. I believe my academic performance played a huge role.”
With financial worries eased, Didintle found new motivation to excel. She thrived in her studies, earning six distinctions in her first year and five in her second – with an overall average of 74%. Her dedication was further recognised when she was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society.
Didintle’s ambitions extend beyond graduation – she envisions a future where she merges Software Development and Cyber Security to build safer digital environments. She is particularly passionate about improving educational technology and ensuring that personal data remains secure.
“We don’t talk enough about Cyber Security,” she explains. “People need to know how to protect their information. I want to develop solutions that make that easier.” She is already taking steps toward this goal – building her portfolio and developing software solutions, including a Java-based calculator she created from scratch.
Didintle’s journey is a testament to perseverance. For students facing financial or academic challenges, her message is clear:
“Never let your circumstances define your future. Keep working hard, reach out for help, and take advantage of the resources around you. There is always someone watching, and opportunities will come when you least expect them.”
With plans to gain industry experience before pursuing an honours degree, Didintle is well on her way to becoming a leader in tech. The Integrove Bursary was more than just financial support – it was the stepping stone she needed to turn her vision into reality.
