Our Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism Management Vossies from our Mbombela, Midrand, and Tygervalley campuses recently represented Eduvos at the prestigious Meetings Africa Exhibition, hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre from 23 to 24 February 2026. Their participation formed part of the Future Leaders Executive Committee programme, a national initiative designed to identify and develop emerging talent within the tourism and business events sector.
The exhibition brought together tourism stakeholders, international delegates, and industry professionals from across the globe. For our students, the experience offered valuable exposure to the real dynamics of the tourism industry, while also providing an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through their studies in a professional environment. Engaging directly with industry leaders and delegates allowed them to build networks, gain insight into current industry trends, and strengthen their professional confidence.
One of the highlights of the programme was the national Future Leaders student presentation segment, where participants presented innovative proposals addressing topical issues within the tourism sector. These presentations are evaluated by industry professionals, with top-performing students given opportunities to further engage with global tourism leaders.
Eduvos is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Darrah Hose from our Tygervalley campus, who was selected as one of the top three finalists nationally. Darrah delivered an exceptional presentation and was awarded First Runner Up at the convention. She was also recognised as one of the Lecturers' Favourite Presenters of the day, an acknowledgement of the quality and impact of her presentation.
Beyond the competition itself, the experience gave students a deeper understanding of the global tourism landscape. The exposure to international exhibitors, industry conversations, and professional networking opportunities helped broaden their perspective on the future of tourism and business events.
Building on this momentum, the programme is preparing students for participation in the EMX Dubai League. Through this initiative, top-performing students may have the opportunity to progress to the Future Leaders Forum in Dubai, further expanding their international exposure and engagement with global industry leaders.
The participation and achievements of Eduvos students at Meetings Africa highlight the programme's commitment to industry engagement, experiential learning, and preparing graduates who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the tourism and hospitality sector.
