Like many school leavers, Lyndon Lottering didn't have every step of his future mapped out when he enrolled at Eduvos. What he did have was the willingness to take the first step and that decision led him to discover his purpose, build his confidence, and develop resilience he never knew he had. Today, his journey is a reminder that you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Finding Direction Through Opportunity

After finishing school, Lyndon wasn't sure what he wanted to do next. Instead of waiting to have all the answers, his parents encouraged him to continue studying and trust that the right opportunities would present themselves. As he explored his options, he decided to enrol for a Bachelor of Commerce at Eduvos.

When he began exploring different institutions, Eduvos immediately stood out. "From the moment I visited the campus, I loved the environment. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely interested in helping students succeed. It felt like a place where I could grow, not only academically but also as a person," he recalls.

Looking back, Lyndon describes choosing Eduvos as one of the best decisions he has made. Through assignments, presentations, case studies, and group projects, he discovered strengths he hadn't recognised in himself while developing greater confidence and practical skills.

Growing Through Every Challenge

Lyndon's greatest lessons didn't only come from the classroom. During his studies, his father became seriously ill after suffering four strokes in a short period. Reflecting on that moment, he says, "I remember being in an exam when I received the news. I couldn't continue writing and had to leave the exam hall because my focus was entirely on my family."

With his mother and sister working in Springbok, Lyndon put his studies on hold for more than a year to care for his father and support his family. During that same period, he also became a father. "My boys became my greatest source of motivation and reminded me why I needed to keep moving forward. I wanted to build a better future for them and show them that no matter how difficult life becomes, giving up is never the answer," he explains.

Throughout it all, his mother's encouragement never wavered. "Every single day, she encouraged me to believe in myself, keep going, and never lose hope. Her strength gave me strength," he says.

When he returned to Eduvos, Lyndon found the support he needed from his lecturers. "The lecturers genuinely want students to succeed and are always willing to provide guidance when needed. Their encouragement has helped me build confidence in myself and reminded me that learning is about continuous improvement rather than being perfect," he shares.

Looking Ahead

The challenges Lyndon faced changed more than his circumstances. They changed the way he saw himself and what he believed he was capable of. "Life doesn't always go according to plan, but I've learned how important it is to adapt, stay focused, and keep moving forward even when circumstances are difficult," he reflects.

With graduation behind him, he hopes to make a positive difference by leading with integrity, compassion, and professionalism, using what he has learned to improve the lives of others. "Success isn't always about having the easiest journey. It's about having the determination to keep going," he says. His journey is a reminder that you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes, getting started is what allows you to discover what's possible.
