Eduvos is excited to announce that we are heading to Comic Con Africa 2025, which will take place from 28 – 31 August at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec. As one of South Africa’s leading private higher education institutions, Eduvos is bringing its passion for immersive, future-fit learning to Africa’s biggest pop culture and gaming event.
At the Eduvos stand (F628 in Hall 6), visitors will experience firsthand how Eduvos is preparing students to turn passion into profession. Eduvos will showcase qualifications, such as the Higher Certificate in Information Systems (Game Design and Development), designed to equip students for the careers of tomorrow. The stand will also feature dynamic activations, a Marvel Rivals esports tournament, and opportunities to engage with Eduvos’ academic teams about how innovative education meets real-world impact.
Comic Con Africa 2025 will host two official Eduvos speaker sessions on the Pop-Taku Stage. On Thursday, 28 August from 17:00 to 17:30, Dr Nyx McLean, Head of Research and Postgraduate Studies at Eduvos, will present Reshaping the Future of Higher Education with AI. In this session, Dr McLean will explore how Eduvos is embedding artificial intelligence (AI) into its academic ecosystem, highlighting why AI literacy is no longer optional but a core competency for every student. The second session will take place on Friday, 29 August from 17:00 to 17:30, with a panel discussion titled Where Gaming & Education Meet.
This conversation will feature Dr Tony Matchaba-Hove, Eduvos Bedfordview Campus General Manager, Jaco Sauer, Co-Founder and General Manager of RGB Gaming, and Robert Njawaya, an Eduvos alum and esports enthusiast. Together, they will unpack how esports and gaming are transforming skills development, digital literacy, and career readiness, showcasing the exciting intersections between education and the gaming industry.
A highlight of Eduvos’ Comic Con presence is its continued collaboration with RGB Gaming, a pioneering esports education company. Since 2022, the partnership has worked to bridge the gap between school-level gaming talent and tertiary opportunities.
Together, Eduvos and RGB Gaming have introduced esports leagues across campuses and developed a Higher Certificate in Game Design and Development, creating exciting pathways into the growing gaming and digital industries.
