Eduvos Partners with SADAG to Support Student Mental Health.

Post by Eduvos, February 7, 2025.

We’re proud to partner with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) to support the well-being of our students. Through this partnership, you’ll have access to free, confidential mental health support whenever you need it. We understand that student life comes with its challenges, and we’re here to help you navigate them. Your well-being is just as important as your academic success.

Starting 1 February 2025, Eduvos students will have access to professional support for stress, anxiety, depression, and more.

Who is SADAG?

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is Africa’s largest mental health support organisation. Since 1994, they have provided free counselling, crisis intervention, and mental health resources to individuals facing challenges like depression, anxiety, and stress.

“This partnership highlights our commitment to prioritising the mental health and well-being of the Eduvos community. We understand the unique challenges students face, and we want them to know they are not alone, and that help is available.”

Krystle Rose Kemp, Projects Manager for SADAG

SADAG operates over 30 helplines, offers online resources, and runs community programmes to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health. Their goal is to ensure everyone has access to the support they need to prioritise their well-being.

Through Eduvos’ partnership with SADAG, our Vossies now have 24/7 access to mental health support, including a toll-free helpline and a WhatsApp chat service.

24/7 Toll-Free Helpline

The Eduvos Student Helpline (0800 008 206) is available 24/7, offering private and compassionate support from trained SADAG counsellors. No matter what you’re going through – academic pressure, personal struggles, or just needing someone to talk to – help is just a call away.

WhatsApp Chatline

For a more discreet way to reach out, their Have Hope WhatsApp Chatline (087 163 2050) is available daily from 8 am to 5 pm. Whether you prefer texting over calling or just need quick guidance, this service makes it easy to connect.

Your Mental Health Matters

Alongside direct counselling, Eduvos students will also have access to mental health resources on topics like stress management, self-care, and when to seek professional help.

“Student wellness is our priority. We are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive academically and socially”, says Cheryl Smith, Eduvos Head of Student Affairs. “We’ve partnered with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) to provide 24/7 helpline services, valuable resources, and educational programmes – empowering our students with the support they need while breaking the stigma around mental health. Because at Eduvos, your well-being matters.”

Eduvos is committed to fostering a supportive community where no student feels alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength. If you need support, don’t hesitate – these services are here for you.
