We are proud to announce that Defining a Technocritical Approach to AI Adoption in the Global South: Perspectives from Higher Education has been featured in the 13th Edition of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) Research Bulletin on Post-School Education and Training (PSET). The Research Bulletin bridges the gap between those who produce and those who use post-school research, shaping policy and practice.
Dr. Miné de Klerk and Dr. Nyx McLean's research examines the challenges and opportunities of integrating GenAI into higher education in the Global South. It advocates for a technocritical approach and stresses the need for localised, participatory AI development.
Using Eduvos as a case study, the research highlights how the institution proactively engaged with GenAI. In 2024, Eduvos established an AI Committee, held virtual discussions with students and lecturers, and developed AI-responsive assessments for 87 modules. This case study illustrates how higher education institutions can critically integrate AI while ensuring contextual relevance and ethical considerations.
This research is just one example of Eduvos’s commitment to being at the forefront of educational innovation. By engaging in cutting-edge research and developing insights that address the future of education, we continue pushing boundaries in both academic and practical fields.
