Starting tertiary education is an exciting milestone, but it’s also a big adjustment. At Eduvos Potchefstroom, we meet many first-year students with strong academic backgrounds, yet even they can find the transition from high school overwhelming.
Higher education demands more than just good grades, it requires independence, emotional readiness, and effective life skills. To help learners prepare for this leap, we’ve partnered with Mr Martin Botha, Principal of StudyXpress, to launch a community initiative: Get Ready for Tertiary Education.
The programme supports Grade 10–12 learners across Potchefstroom, offering practical guidance on managing stress, building confidence, and developing academic resilience.
Our first session, held on Wednesday, 23 April, focused on How to Handle Stress and Anxiety as a School Learner. Psychology lecturer and school psychologist Mr Johan Hattingh led the conversation, offering useful strategies to help learners recognise and manage stress, especially during exams.
What made the day truly special was the involvement of our own Eduvos students, who shared honest stories about their challenges and growth. Their insights helped learners feel heard, encouraged and better prepared for what lies ahead.
Our next session will be held on Wednesday, 21 May and will cover study techniques just in time for mid-year exams, from managing workloads to taking effective notes and preparing for assessments.
Through our ongoing workshops, mentorship, and school partnerships, we aim to:
Eduvos students will continue to serve as mentors, creating a support network that bridges the gap from school to tertiary studies. To join this session, please click here to RSVP.
We believe education starts long before the first lecture, it begins with preparation, empowerment, and community support. If you're a learner, parent, or teacher in Potchefstroom, we invite you to be part of this journey.
See you at the next session on Wednesday, 21 May. Let’s get ready, together.
