Meet Murangi Kimberley Ranwedzi, a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Politics student from Eduvos Pretoria campus. As an Academic SRC member for Eduvos Pretoria in 2025, she has grown into a confident voice for students while developing the skills to shape a future rooted in justice, leadership, and impact.
For Murangi, identity and meaning have always been closely connected. Even her name carries significance. "I've always had an issue giving people my name because Kimberley is an easy name to remember but Murangi is a prophetic name," she shares.
Her passion for leadership, personal growth, and community impact was shaped long before higher education. Growing up in a strong faith-based environment as a pastor's child, she learned early the value of service and responsibility. Today, that foundation continues to guide her work both academically and spiritually as she serves as a Junior Youth Leader and Media Team Coordinator at the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa Revival Centre Atteridgeville Church.
Choosing to study at Eduvos was a deliberate step toward both academic and personal development. "I chose Eduvos because I was looking for an institution that would not only equip me academically but also support my personal growth and development," she explains.
Murangi's time at Eduvos has been shaped by growth, challenge, and transformation. Her passion for law and politics is rooted in a desire to understand how systems shape people's lives. "It's a field that goes beyond theory, it allows you to engage with real societal issues and think about how meaningful change can be created," she says.
Her experience as Academic SRC has strengthened this perspective, giving her real responsibility in representing students and developing her communication and problem-solving abilities.
One of the most defining influences in her academic journey has been her Political Science lecturer, Mr Magic Mnisi. "What stood out about him was not only his passion for the subject, but also his dedication to his students," she reflects. "He made sure that I understood the work and never felt left behind."
Like many students, Murangi also faced personal challenges along the way, particularly around discipline and balance. She openly reflects on moments where distractions and social pressures tested her focus. "I realised that I needed to be intentional about my goals and the kind of future I was working towards," she says.
Through setting boundaries, building discipline, and staying grounded in her faith, she learned to navigate pressure with clarity and purpose. These experiences strengthened her resilience and helped her grow into a more focused and determined student leader.
Through her academic journey, Murangi has developed more than knowledge. She has developed voice, confidence, and perspective. "One of the most unexpected things my qualification helped me develop was a strong sense of confidence in my own voice and perspective," she shares.
Her time at Eduvos has also shaped her ability to think critically and engage with complex issues in a balanced and analytical way, while strengthening her leadership capabilities in both academic and community spaces.
Looking ahead, Murangi is driven by a vision of impact. "I want to be part of creating solutions that address real social challenges, whether through policy, advocacy, or community-based initiatives," she says. Her ambition is not only to build a career in law and politics, but to use her voice to uplift and represent others.
She also hopes to inspire young people to believe in their own potential. "I hope to continue leading and inspiring others, particularly young people, to believe in themselves, use their voices, and pursue opportunities that create positive change."
Her advice is reflected through her own journey of discipline, faith, and focus, showing that growth often comes from learning to realign with your purpose.
Murangi's story is one of conviction and courage, shaped by leadership, guided by faith, and strengthened through challenge. It is a reminder that true growth happens when knowledge, purpose, and service come together.
