What began as a love for art has grown into a purposeful journey of creativity and ambition. Meet Eden Delmage, a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design student at our Mbombela campus. With a passion for colour, design, and self-expression, she is turning creativity into a future filled with possibility and impact.

Background

Eden’s journey into Graphic Design began with a deep-rooted love for art. From exploring colours on canvas to experimenting on paper, creativity has always been at the centre of who she is. Reflecting on where it all began, Eden shares, “I love art, it has always been my passion to create and explore colours on canvas and paper, and I knew one day I’d like to put that into designs.”

Choosing where to study was an important step in bringing that vision to life. Eduvos stood out not only for its strong reputation among students, but also for its accessibility with 12 campuses, one being close to her home, and offering of her desired qualification. Speaking on her decision, Eden explains, “Eduvos looked like a place I would want to attend, and it offered the bachelor's degree I was after for Graphic Design.”

This decision marked the start of a journey where passion could evolve into a profession, grounded in both creativity and purpose.

Her Eduvos Journey

Eden’s experience at Eduvos has been eye-opening, particularly in discovering how art translates into real-world design. “What excites me the most about my field of study is the software I get to use and because it still involves art as well,” says Eden.

Through practical assignments and industry-relevant creative briefs, Eden has gained valuable insight into the demands of the design world. Projects often simulate real client scenarios to prepare students for the unpredictability of the industry. Highlighting this experience, Eden notes, “They give us topics about businesses and how they need certain items as well as throwing in a section where the client changes their mind, which happens a lot in the real world.”

A standout moment in Eden’s journey was the Typography module, which shifted her perspective on design entirely. “It honestly opened my view about every poster I have seen; I end up analysing it more now that I know what to look for,” Eden shares.

Like many students, Eden faced challenges along the way, particularly when it came to managing a heavy workload. Despite careful planning, the pressure to perform remained. Speaking honestly about this, Eden admits, “Even when I did that, I still felt stressed about the marks I would receive. But the support I got from my friends and my family helped me push through to complete my projects.”

Through these experiences, Eden has developed not only technical design skills but also valuable life skills such as time management and balance. Making time for both studies and personal creativity has been key to staying motivated and inspired.

Achievements and Future Goals

Eden’s journey is driven by both passion and ambition, with clear goals for the future. Looking ahead, Eden shares, “One day I hope to create designs for myself as a freelance Graphic Designer.” Beyond this, there is a strong desire to be recognised within the creative industry and to have her work seen on a larger scale. Expanding on this dream, Eden says, “I want people to recognise my name and see that I designed great posters or I hope one day my art reaches a few places around the world.”

Eden also values the unique mindset within the Graphic Design faculty, describing fellow students as creatives who “see art and beauty in ordinary items that others ignore.” This perspective continues to shape how she approaches both her work and her future.

Eden’s journey is a testament to what happens when passion is nurtured and given space to grow. From a love of art to a future in design, her story reflects creativity, resilience, and the confidence to pursue something meaningful.
