Vossie Voice: Studying Humanities at Eduvos.

Post by Eduvos,  03 March 2023.

I once faced a great challenge as an introverted, awkward 18-year-old; deciding what college degree I would spend the next three years of my life invested in.

While I wasn’t interested in the generic fields of becoming a ‘doctor, lawyer or accountant’, I knew I wanted to pursue something exciting and equally valuable. After months of serious thought, I decided I would hone in on my ability and passion for writing which led me to the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English at Eduvos.

The Bachelor of Arts degree falls within the Humanities faculty which I learnt through experience, is one of the most liberating faculties any student can hope to join. This degree redefines what it means to be a human, and how to accept yourself and others for your shared similarities and greatest differences.

My experience at Eduvos has been wonderful, from the friendly, helpful staff to the lecturers that you count your lucky stars for. From mental health campaigns to participating in weekly poetry newsletters, to assisting with SRC initiatives and many other student events, Eduvos took every measure to groom me for the real world. I believe that Eduvos is unique (not just for its international accreditation, large resource centre, dedicated student rooms or even sports facilities) but for the individual effort and energy that they pour into their students.

As an extroverted, less awkward 21-year-old BA graduate, I know I made the right decision with my studies as well as my choice of institution. So far, I have published with four journalistic organisations including African Sun Media and the Oral History Association of South Africa. While my long-term career goals include being an established author, I currently enjoy copywriting and copy-editing.

My advice to students looking to study at Eduvos would be to definitely enrol if you want to have some of the best years of your life and become the person that makes YOU proud.
